Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals are the most ambitious sustainable development agenda ever adopted by the world’s countries and are designed to achieve four great things by 2030: ending extreme poverty. To reduce inequalities and injustices in the world. To promote peace and justice. Solving the climate crisis.

The Sustainable Development Goals can make this a reality. The Antiques Fair contributes to these objectives through a number of actions. We have chosen to focus on goals 4, 7 and 12, which we feel are closest to us and where we can have the most impact.

Objective 4.7: Education for sustainable development and global citizenship

We have chosen to focus mainly on target 4.7 – Education for sustainable development and global citizenship. Our goal is to work to promote building conservation, that is, a trend of refurbishing the furniture, artifacts and buildings you have instead of buying new ones, and to teach what to look for so that it is a sustainable purchase and is not, for example, ivory, endangered species or the like.

By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, the promotion of a culture of peace, non-violence and global citizenship, and the valuing of cultural diversity and the contribution of culture to sustainable development.

Target 11.4: Protect the world's cultural and natural heritage

We have chosen to focus on target 11.4 – Protect the world’s cultural and natural heritage. We work to promote cultural heritage in art, interior design and design so that it survives and that the knowledge and provenance is passed on to new generations, thus increasing interest.

Strengthen efforts to protect and safeguard the world’s cultural and natural heritage.

Objective 12.8: Sustainable consumption and production

We have chosen to focus on targets 12.5 and 12.8 – Significantly reduce waste and Increase public awareness of sustainable lifestyles. We want to encourage people to reuse what they already have instead of buying new. This saves on all the costs involved in producing new products, such as materials, manufacturing, transportation and the disposal of discarded products. It also promotes craftsmanship. We are working to promote the trend of the added value of provenance, that is, the history of an object, and to let it become part of how you tell who you are.

Significantly reduce waste by 2030 through prevention, reduction, reuse and recycling measures.

By 2030, ensure that people everywhere have the information and awareness needed for sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature.
